Health Care and Support Services
All staff members associated with Evergreen Arbor receive continuing education on Alzheimer's/dementia care. An activity specialist works full-time in Evergreen Arbor to coordinate stimulating activities to meet the residents' skill levels and interests. Activities are specifically designed for Alzheimer's care residents and including exercise, current events, music therapy, horticultural therapy, art therapy, games, creativity time and relaxation.
The Bartels Chaplain offers Bible stories, Sunday worship services and special worship services in the center.

Support Groups
Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community and the East Central Iowa Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association cosponsor two Alzheimer’s Support Groups. The groups pro vide opportunity for families and friends of persons with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders to share concerns and solutions for coping with the affects of Alzheimer’s.
The support groups meet the third Monday of the month at 2:30 p.m. at Evergreen Arbor and the third Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Waverly Public Library. The groups are free and confidential.
